Storyteller-Juggler

Since 1982, I have been presenting performances for pre-schools, elementary and middle schools, adults, and family audiences. Each show includes storytelling, juggling, magic, comedy, and audience participation. In addition to the “theme” shows described below, I can develop programs around specific themes requested by the sponsor.

I also perform at festivals and fairs as a stage performer and/or a roving entertainer. As a roving entertainer, I ride my unicycle and perform walk-around juggling and magic. For information on my festivals/roving entertainer performances, click here   For information on my company party/picnic performances, click here.

Resiliency: Tales of Bounce Back Kids

Stories that highlight the experiences of children who have faced adversity and responded in a fashion that serves as good role modeling for kids today. As one youth defined resiliency: “resiliency means bouncing back from problems and stuff with more power and smarts than you started with.’

The stories include tales of a 9-year-old girl who lost her leg from cancer and eventually won a skiing medal in the Paralympics; the perseverance of an 8-year-old girl after four years of failed attempts learning how to ice-skate; the determination of a Madison girl to succeed despite her ‘challenging’ family situation (she eventually graduated from the university); the commitment of filmmaker George Lucas (Star Wars) to make something of his life after a near-death experience as a child; the assistance children provided other children and adults after natural disasters in Barneveld and Weyawega; and stories describing how “one kid can make a difference.”

A Heritage of Stories

Celebrate diversity through the storytelling traditions practiced throughout the world. The multicultural tales are selected to demonstrate the storytelling similarities among different cultures and emphasize the uniqueness of individual cultures. Tales of justice, wisdom, and humor are included.

Celebrate Differences

A program developed in conjunction with the Wisconsin Council on Developmental Disabilities.

Stories have the power to touch hearts and thereby change lives. These particular stories are designed to teach kids to recognize the similarities they share with other children and to accept and respect their differences. The stories highlight people who have responded in a positive fashion to their own physical differences and those of others. Tales are drawn from the true experiences of children with ‘differences’ and from contemporary children’s literature.

Purely Original

Where do ideas for stories come from? Not the story fairy. In this program, I both tell my own stories and share the creative process for writing, rehearsing, and performing stories. The stories will spark kids imaginations, tickle their funny bones, and inspire them to create their own stories to write and to tell.

Make Em’ Laugh

When you’re smiling, when you’re smiling, the whole world … “ Smile, giggle, and hold your funny bones as I knock your socks off with this uproarious collection of juggling jokes, clown gags, fractured fairytales, and mystifying magic. Any 10-year-old with 15 years of audience experience will love this show.

Too Many Books

There can never be too many books- or can there? This one-act play tells the tale of a boy whose passion for reading creates delightful problems when the books begin to take over his house. This reading motivation show promotes specific titles (Where the Wild Things Are, Where the Sidewalk Ends, Green Eggs and Ham, The Wizard of Oz, and many more) and well as types of books (poetry, nonfiction, “how to,” biography, and more)
